Choices Markets’ in-house dietician, Desiree Nielsen RD, and Executive Chef Antonio Cerullo have translated their love of food and healthy eating into an easy-to-follow book of delicious triple-tested recipes. Through their daily work with fresh, local and healthy foods, and the people who produce them, Nielsen and Cerullo have created an impressive response to the question: How can I eat sustainably in BC?

A LOCAL TABLE is the first cookbook of its kind to create recipes around each of the four seasons, showcasing the foods available to cooks in the Lower Mainland and the Okanagan. Choices Markets will donate five dollars from the sale of every book to the Farm Folk/City Folk Society, a non-profit society that works with farm and city to cultivate a local, sustainable food system. Included in the book are:

  • 10 Steps towards a smaller carbon footprint

  • Profiles of several BC growers, including Stinking Rows Garlic Farm (Salmon Arm), Sunny Slopes Farm (Naramata), and Warkentin Organic Farm (Matsqui)
  • Tips on eating sustainably.
